We recommend using a well-draining clay pots (any pot with a drainage hole will do) and to only re-water when the soil has been able to dry through completely. Placing a drainage layer or charcoal, vermiculite, or medium size rocks on the bottom of the pot/raised garden bed can drastically improve fluid drainage. Using nutrient dense soil or compost based dirt can be good in small amounts. However, these can hold onto water more and damage roots.
